We are at a historic moment – after 50 years since the boomers and psychedelics parted company, our paths are now once again converging. And with a lifetime of experience, maturity and the insights from half a century of clinical research, we are now eminently poised to benefit from what these unique medicines can offer.
I am a writer and baby boomer covering the re-entry of psychedelics into the mainstream– and the ways this movement will impact my generation of baby boomers as we age.
I am currently writing a book, ELDEREVOLUTION – Psychedelics and the New Counterculture of Aging, to be published by Park Street Press (publication Spring 2026)
In uncounted but growing numbers, older adults are exploring psychedelics for healing, growth, and spiritual exploration. And in the process, they are discovering that older age can be the most meaningful and joyful time of their lives. ELDEREVOLUTION will bring readers up to date with the psychedelic landscape of the 2020s, and share the stories of over thirty older adults at the vanguard of psychedelics and the new counterculture of aging.
I encourage you to hear how I describe my vision in this interview for the Embodied podcast, produced by North Carolina Public Radio
I closely follow research on psychedelic-assisted therapy for end-of-life distress, expanding areas of legal access to psychedelics for “wellness” and spiritual exploration, and the growing role of chaplains and non-denominational spiritual leaders in supporting psychedelic experiences.
At this point, I am the only writer (to the best of my knowledge) specifically and consistently exploring issues related to psychedelics and older adults. My writing has been published in Forbes.com, Next Avenue, Double Blind and other publications.
I also speak on the topic of Psychedelics Towards the End of Life to professionals and others interested in innovative approaches to aging and end-of-life.
